End of life care training involves an understanding of treatment, care and support for those who are nearing the end of their life. It is a very important element of palliative care. This type of care is considered to be for people that are thought to be in the last year of their life although this can be hard to predict. Some people may receive end of life care in their final days or weeks while others receive care for months. You can access the NHS guide on “What End of Life Care Involves” which gives advice on how to access palliative care.
End of life care tries to assist people to live as well as possible during their remaining time. It involves managing physical symptoms of illness and getting emotional support for them. Sometimes, family and friends also need support. Some individuals need a lot of of this kind of care towards the end of their lives.
